Project: The Lancasters Location: London Client: Northacre Value: £95m Scope: Conversion of hotel to high quality homes
Woolf was appointed to the Lancasters project by Northacre following our successful completion of their Park Street project. This new project involves the conversion of a Grade II listed structure from a hotel to a development of exclusive apartments and town houses in the heart of London.
Part of the existing structure will be converted and refurbished to form one 5-bedroom town house over six floors. This house will have its own entrance and its lower ground floor will house a sauna and swimming pool. The existing cantilevered stone staircase will be retained to preserve some of the original style of the building.
The remainder of the terrace has already been demolished, though the existing facade has been retained. This section will contain 78 luxury apartments ranging from 2-4 bedrooms, at least two or which will have their own swimming pools.
In the existing garden area a three-storey underground car park will be constructed using a contiguous piled retaining structure and a concrete framed structure which will have car access ramps, car parking and a health spa gym and swimming pool. The garden above the car park will have architectural landscaped grounds.
All apartments will be fitted out with high quality finishes and products. The kitchens will contain a bespoke range of Italian, state of the art fittings and equipment. All the bathrooms will be fully stone clad with heated undertile circuits and Italian sanitary ware.
The new frame will be constructed in cast insitu concrete with concrete riser shafts, lift shafts and staircases. The existing roofs will be remodelled to mirror the original layout and profile, and fixed with slates to match Plot no 75, the 6-storey house. The existing external elevations are to be repaired, the Stuco render rejuvenated and the facades repainted.
